The Currently Reading Tag

There’s already a version of this tag up on my blog, but it was actually written by Soph @ Bookwyrming Thoughts as part of the 2019 April Fool’s blog swap! So I figured I’d share my actual answers and we could see how well Soph did.

[Discussion] Please Stop Commenting On How “Much” I Read

Between bloghopping and IRL networking, I get a lot of comments along the lines of “OMG you’ve read so many books this month/year!” or “I used to love reading too, until I started high school/college/working.”

Although I know it’s often meant as a compliment, or just making small talk, it doesn’t usually feel that way. Instead I find myself annoyed by the inherent assumptions that they probably didn’t even realize they were making.

There’s always going to be someone who reads more than you; unless you don’t read at all, there’s always going to be someone who reads less than you. (And if you don’t read at all, well, there are still people tied with you.) Some people read a book a day; others read a book a year. It doesn’t make anyone more or less of a reader, and it’s not actually a competition.

2019 Bookish Naughty or Nice Tag

No matter what you celebrate, if you celebrate anything, I hope you’re having a great holiday season! Whether that means spending it with family and/or taking time for yourself, diving into projects and/or having a relaxing break, going out to enjoy holiday cheer and/or curling up with a hot drink and a good book.

I did this tag last year, and I thought it would be interesting to see if my answers have changed at all. (The original tag was created by Jenniely.)

Sunshine Blogger Award #2

The lovely Nicoline @ Bookish Stuff nominated me for the sunshine blogger award a couple months ago which I’d somehow forgotten about until I was going through my post drafts but really really do appreciate, thank you! 💕

(I originally had another post planned for today, but during the writing process it spiraled into a monstrosity that is not yet fit for public consumption. So back into the drafts it goes, and here’s this instead.)

Book Addiction Tag

Hi, my name is Isabelle and I might be addicted to books. Or not, reading is a choice and I can stop anytime I want.

I was tagged by Sam @ Fictionally Sam, one of my favorite people in the bookish community whose blog you need to drop by if you haven’t done so recently. This tag was probably started by Stuart @ Always Trust in Books (thanks Sam for finding the credit!).

The Goodreads Tag

If you’ve read my Tips & Tricks post and/or we’re friends on the site both of which are things you should get on if you haven’t already, you’ll know that I’m a pretty avid Goodreads user. While there are definitely aspects that can be improved, Goodreads is a great tool to keep track of what you’ve read and to engage with other readers — and it’s been a huge part of my bookish experience!

All this to say, today’s tag (which I swiped from Lindsay @ Singer of Stories, whose awesome blog you should definitely check out) is right up my alley.

This or That Tag

I was tagged by the one and only DB @ DB’s Guide to the Galaxy! Even though I’m a fundamentally indecisive person when it comes to just about anything, it turns out I have a lot of very strong Opinions^TM about characters, worldbuilding, and tropes — so this wasn’t nearly as hard as I thought it would be. 😜

My Good Reading Habits Tag

Like with sleeping, everyone has a different reading style. (And in my case, both tend to leave me with a sore neck from holding my head at a weird angle.) Today we’re actually here to talk about the good parts of my bookish life, though, so without (much) further ado let’s get into it!
