About the Blogger
Hello and welcome to my book blog!
I’m Isabelle (she/her): Taiwanese-American, demibisexual, autistic, nerdfighter, barista, paralegal student. In college/uni I majored in Linguistics and minored in Business & Technical writing. Also, I’m a Capricorn β and about 50/50 INFJ-T/INFP-T.
My favorite genres are fantasy and contemporary (mostly YA and NA), memoir/ biography, and poetry; but I’ll read almost anything that sounds interesting. Though I don’t always finish; I DNF quite frequently. I’m particularly interested in works that include diverse characters and/or address social issues β especially for the AAPI &Β BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and/or neurodivergent communities; ownvoices is ideal, but obviously authors aren’t obligated to out themselves.
About the Blog
This blog was launched as BookwyrmBites in November 2018. However, BookwyrmBites β while unique and hopefully memorable β never quite felt like me. So at the end of 2019, I decided to rebrand! Since I love foxes, a good pun, paying homage to my East Asian heritage, and intersectional feminism, Nine Tale Vixen seemed like a perfect match.
My content is focused primarily on books, secondarily on my other interests β writing (both original fiction and fanfiction), baking, planning (bullet journaling), and more β and it’s important to me that this brand contains room to grow and change, specific to me rather than a particular niche.
Nine Tales
So many stories have changed the way I think and write, but in keeping with my brand, here are nine that really stand out:
- The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
- Middlegame by Seanan McGuire
- Inkworld trilogy by Cornelia Funke
- Wicked As You Wish by Rin Chupeco
- Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
- In Other Lands by Sarah Rees Brennan
- The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater
- We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
- The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-ExupΓ©ry
