Back to Blogging!

Hello hello! If you thought you’d seen the last of me, you were wrong. 😜

Just a quickie update post today, to fully capitalize on this moment in time when I have the energy and inspiration to pop in to the blog!

This year I took my “annual” unplanned hiatus earlier, as I was finishing up my paralegal certificate program, through which I discovered court reporting and stenography β€” super cool stuff; check it out if you’re not familiar! I hear the TikTok has been putting it on more people’s radar. I do still want a career in the legal field, but court reporter seems like an even better fit than paralegal, so I’ve decided to give it a go. Which does mean going back to school for another few years, but I’m actually really excited about it.

For those of you who’ve been following me for a while and/or digging into the archives, you may know that I love back-to-school season. It’s my second New Year’s (or third, if you count Lunar. But I digress). I get to set goals and reevaluate where I’m at; I get to revive habits and routines; I get to tell myself that procrasti-reading is a form of ✨ self-care ✨.

Speaking of which, I am surprisingly still somewhat on track to complete my reading goals; I’ve also given myself an extension on the Cross-Country Reading Challenge. But I’ve been reading a lot of new releases, so the TBR continues to pile up … as does Mt. To Be Reviewed. As always, I go back and forth between giving myself a “clean slate” for the TBRs vs. trying to get caught up somehow, where the former is very obviously the smarter choice but the latter is just too tempting to my completionism.

Blogging-wise, basically we’ll see how it goes. While I’m aiming for one post a week, just to get back into the swing of things, life (school and work and personal stuff) does continue to take priority. At the same time, I have a few creative projects that I want to devote time to. Though I’m not ready to share details beyond that some of them will be hosted/ cross-posted here, and I’m hoping y’all will enjoy them as much as I have been.

So yeah β€” I think that’s all the major talking (writing) points that I wanted to cover today. It’s good to be back.

  • If you’re reading this, thank you for sticking around! You’re awesome.
  • What are you looking forward to this autumn?

  1. Good luck with your studies! I feel like it’s serendipitous that I read your post on going back to school for court reporting when I’m about to go to law school. Great minds think alike field-wise πŸ™‚

  2. Omg IZZY HI I’M GLAD YOU’RE ALIVE. Also that’s awesome court reporting has been getting put on people’s radar! I did it back in high school for tech class and they axed it because there just weren’t enough people doing it but I did find it really interesting and kind of wish I continued. I didn’t though, since I was struggling after a certain point (maybe from regular typing for so long), but I did make good friends from the class who recently graduated and became court reporters, and we still keep in touch. Good luck! It’s definitely challenging, and like someone else said, scoping can be tedious (personally I enjoyed it more than the actual writing), but I have faith in you!

    1. rescues you from spam ah, in some ways it’s like no time has passed at all πŸ˜‚

that’s super cool that they introduced it in your high school; most people where i grew up have never heard of it! but our local community college has a CR program which has apparently gotten more popular in recent years, partly due to a lot of people going back to school/changing careers because of the panini πŸ€”
