January in Preview

Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody’s ever made before. Don’t freeze, don’t stop, don’t worry that it isn’t good enough, or it isn’t perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.

Whatever it is you’re scared of doing, Do it.

– Neil Gaiman

Quite honestly, I’ve already missed a few days of the habits I’m working on. The month (year) is already imperfect so I am trying to embrace it as it is, rather than wishing it were better.

Goals

Reading & Blogging

  • Pick up diverse books for at least half of total read count.
  • Review every book I read or DNF this month.
  • Catch up on at least 5 overdue ARC reviews.
  • Publish a blog post at least twice per week.
  • Bloghop at least once per week.

Academic & Career

  • Once semester starts, create (and adjust as needed) a weekly class/study schedule.
  • Finish online screenplay-writing course.

Personal

Anticipated Book Releases

ARCs I Have

Events & Updates

  • Apparently my birthday is this month? IDK fam, time has not been real for almost longer than I can remember atm, I’m mentally frozen at like eighteen or nineteen, and also I never really do anything to celebrate anyway πŸ˜…
  • Then I’m going into my last semester of college/uni, with a full 18-credit (6 classes) workload β€” but half my classes are asynchronous, which means they don’t actually meet (on Zoom or otherwise) and time management will be crucial.
  • My school continues to offer personal and professional development workshops; I’ve signed up for a couple of those this month. Really gotta start working on those post-graduation plans (yikes).
  • Do you have a favorite quote about this month or time of year?
  • What goals and plans do you have for this month?
  • Which upcoming releases are you most excited to read?

  1. Izzyyyyy hi hello ❀ I can’t believe it’s nearly your birthday time has flown cause I’m still unsure how we’re in a new year already. I’ve honestly not been doing a lot of reading, so my focus there is just to finish the books I started last year and read the ebooks I have on loan from my library if I’m able. No point forcing myself to read and end up hating the book.

I love quotes maybe a little too much, since I scatter them throughout my bujo but for January the quote which resonates with me the most is ‘trust the timing of your life’. Sometimes the hardest thing to do is trust that things will get better, maybe not right now but at some point things will look up and trust the timing of everything that you’re experiencing right now. Even if it’s not all sunshine and rainbows, it’s definitely something I’ve come to understand more. Along with my quote for 2021 which is “don’t be pushed around by the fears in your mind, be led by the dreams in your heart’. Love that quote because so often we let fear push us around, talk us out of taking chances, of going for that thing because the ‘what ifs’ become too loud. It can be easy to let fear crush our dreams, which is why I used that quote for 2021 because this year I want to be led by my dreams. Not by my fears.

This month my goals are mostly focused on finishing assignments for my course :/ but I’m hoping to also figure out a study schedule for Korean so I can start to make steady progress on learning the language. Sending you all the love and positive vibes for this month Izzy ❀
