Hello and welcome to a brand-new feature on the BookwyrmBites blog!
Since we’re a good ways into summer, I found myself missing camping and summer camp and all the fun games that go along with them. (I did get to hang out with my friends and watch the fireworks for Fourth of July [aka American Independence Day], and we played Jackbox games; it was fun but not the same.)
But I always strive to be part of the solution instead of the problem, so I have taken matters into my own hands and created my own version — and here we are. This was definitely inspired by Try Guys Game Time; I hope y’all have as much fun reading and maybe playing along with this post as I do with their videos!
(I know a blog post may not be the best medium for this kind of thing, but I’m still figuring out social media engagement and I wanted to try it out.)
Bed / Wed / Behead
If you’ve never played, the game is simple: I give you three characters, you tell me which one you would bed (fuck), which one you would wed (marry), and which one you would behead (kill).
Feel free to answer as many or as few as you want, substitute in characters for those you’re unfamiliar with, and come up with your own!

A Series of Unfortunate Events Drinking Game
This game was designed to be playable whether you’re marathoning the original books or the Netflix adaptation, though you may wish to change the rules slightly for one or the other. (Of course I’m not telling you to drink alcohol if you’re underage or just don’t want to; you can play with any beverage you like. Including water — hydration is important, kids.)
Take a sip when …
- you notice some variation on “VFD”
- you notice an allusion to literature or history, whether it’s a character name or Sunny’s vocabulary or something else
- you notice an allusion to a previous (or future, if rereading / rewatching) book / episode
Take a shot when …
- Count Olaf starts monologuing
- Lemony Snicket defines a word
- a character breaks the fourth wall
Finish your drink when …
- Lemony Snicket advises you to stop reading / look away
- the grown-ups totally fail to help the Baudelaires
- a named character is killed or badly maimed
(Optional) Raise your glass when …
- Violet ties up her hair and makes an invention
- Klaus manages to solve a puzzle / mystery through research
- Sunny tells someone off
Feel free to come up with your own bed/wed/behead prompts and/or drinking game rules, I’d love to see them! Are there any specific games you’d like to see in future Fireside Friday posts? Or is this a unsuccessful experiment that I shouldn’t repeat? 😅

Haha I love Kaz but I was staring at the options and… I definitely couldn’t bed him for certain reasons (plus I wouldn’t want to anyway) and I don’t think marrying him would go very well either, which leaves me with beheading him. I know it’s just a game, but even if I wanted to do it, I think he’d just find a way out of his death XD

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH IZZY!!!! You are my Try Guys binge watching buddy, so you know I absolutely ADORE them. This drinking game makes me want to watch this show. I will have to bookmark your rules and when I’ll watch it this summer I will play this game. Promise to let you know how it goes.

Bed/Wed/Behead is a game I’ve often played with my friends though we usually use actors and most of them like to stick to Bollywood(Indian) actors which just results in them showing me pictures of the actors all night since I’m not into Bollywood and don’t know any actors/actresses and it ends with them saying ‘They don’t look that good in this picture but I promise they look better.’ and we end up failing at the game.
The drinking game looks interesting and I haven’t tried it but I better stick to soda or water, yeah? I haven’t watched A Series of Unfortunate events yet but I’ll definitely try this out when I finally get to it!

yup, when I play FMK with IRL friends we tend to use actors, and honestly I only know a few of the most popular ones 😅 still fun, though!
definitely let me know how the drinking game goes (and yeah, I’m not advocating underage drinking, don’t do that LOL), I hope you have fun with it and enjoy ASOUE!

Fun post. This was the only set of three characters I knew so I can’t really say (because I am adamantly not beheading any of them).

“no mourners, no funerals” didn’t even cross my mind when I put in SoC characters, which probably just goes to show how long it’s been since I read the duology oops 😅

Haha omg all the yes though to beheading Tris Prior…….Just saying……Anyway, I agreed with like 80% of these and hadn’t read the rest, aside from wanting to protect poor Daja bahahaha. I really enjoyed this, it was a lot of fun! For me, ultimate bed/wed/behead is Jon Snow/Draco Malfoy/Bellatrix Lestrange. Whoa…that was tough! Also, I’d be plastered one episode/four chapters in, that drinking game is intense lolol

oh those weren’t actually my answers, I put the characters in random order bc I didn’t want to actually think of what I would do with each set 😜 also yup, I was thinking back over what they actually put in ASOUE and they love their recurring jokes, makes it so easy to come up with a drinking game LOL

Oh my God Isabelle, these are amazing! I feel like we have to team up with our GC some Saturday or Sunday and just play one of these games and get drunk together :’) It’d be so much fun!!
For the bed/wed/behead, I’ve picked a few out of your list.. but it’s hard!

Tris & Taryn def seem to be popular choices for beheading, and I definitely saw it coming when I put them in 😂 and omg yes I’d be so down for a group game night!
