A huge thank you to Meeghan for nominating me, and for consistently sharing great content with the bookish community! (In other words: go check out her blog, it’s awesome.)
Herein lie 7 facts about me, and 15 more nominations for the award.

- If you are nominated, youβve been awarded the Versatile Blogger Award, congrats!
- Thank the person who gave you the award and include a link to their blog.
- Select 15 blogs/bloggers that youβve recently discovered or follow regularly and nominate those for the Versatile Blogger Award.
- Finally, list 7 things about yourself.
- I don’t like being asked to talk about myself. π It’s my absolute least favorite interview question (yes, I would genuinely prefer to tell a potential employer about my weaknesses in painstaking detail!), and I actually shuddered when I saw a discussion guide suggesting that you substitute this question for something potentially awkward like “What do you do for work?” because not everyone has a job or wants to talk about said job. But also, not everyone likes talking about themself!
- I was born and raised in Northern California. So I only say “Cali” or “San Fran” when I’ve been spending too much time around non-Californians (e.g., my college friends); I can talk pretty extensively about the differences between NorCal and SoCal (keep your beaches and year-round summer; I’ll take rain and hiking trails any day β though preferably not on the same day!); and I was lucky enough to grow up with a lot of Asian-American friends so I’m pretty secure in my cultural identity. Oh, and In-N-Out Burger > Shake Shack. (ΰΈ β’Μ_β’Μ)ΰΈ
- Probably directly because of (2), I’ve always wanted to live on the East Coast. (Grass is always greener and all that.) And hey, I’ve ended up at an East Coast university, so I’ve kind of managed it! Not sure yet where I want to go after graduation, though. Maybe the Midwest? π€
- I’m a proud intersectional feminist. Being Taiwanese-American and bisexual
and overly active on Tumblr in my early teen years, I’m personally invested in the fight for equality for hopefully obvious reasons. And even as a QPOC (Queer Person of Color) I still have quite a bit of privilege β I do my best to keep it in mind, but I’m not perfect of course. Please do call me out β not publicly though! Over DMs, or anonymous message if you prefer β if I ever say something that makes you uncomfortable or offended, because I’m always trying to better educate myself! - Speaking of Tumblr, the first fanfiction I wrote was a canon-divergence AU for Tokyo Mew Mew (Kisshu x Ichigo, aka Kishigo). It was extremely cliched and poorly written, but the FFN community was super welcoming so I stuck around … and eventually moved on to Clace (Clary x Jace, The Mortal Instruments; mostly all-human high school AUs) then AO3 & Bellarke (Bellamy x Clarke, The 100; lots of college and tropey fluffy modern AUs). Currently I’m on hiatus, but definitely considering coming back β it’s good writing practice
and I lowkey miss being involved in fandom. - One time I took the Myer-Briggs test and it said I’m an ISTJ? Also I’m a Capricorn and self-identified Ravenclaw. (Pottermore said Gryffindor, but Pottermore lies; I would fight the Sorting Hat on this one. And I don’t really trust the MBTI either.) Anyway, the takeaway is that I’m very Type A, somewhat studious and ambitious. But also combative. YOU DON’T KNOW ME, INTERNET QUIZ.
- Related: I’m a chronic overachiever. Just look at my 2019 Reading Challenges, or my every-other-day posting schedule. I’ve been mainly self-motivated since childhood,
and like everyone else from my high school I have imposter syndrome and/or a superiority or inferiority complexso my therapist would probably say that’s where it comes from.
Fifteen is a lot of blogs, considering I’m still very new to the community and very slowly getting to know people. But I do somehow have more than 15 followers and definitely more than 15 blogger friends, so I won’t be able to nominate everyone who deserves it β that list would be long enough for a post in and of itself. But without further ado and in no particular order, here are my nominations:
Clo @ Book Dragons 24/7 β’ Soph @ Bookwyrming Thoughts β’ Michelle Likes Things β’ Cami @ Reader in the Attic β’ Para @ To Other Worlds β’ Lisa @ Lili Star Reads β’ Olivia’s Catastrophe β’ Fictionally Sam β’ Brigid Downey β’ Ruby’s Books β’ Becky @ Uptown Oracle β’ Kristina @ Books and Dachshunds β’ Emma’s Books β’ Jayati @ It’s Just A Coffee Addicted Bibliophile β’ Anna @ The Scones & Tomes Society
Congrats on getting the award! And, thank you so much for nominating me.
I’m a Ravenclaw too high five although the sorting hat did sort me correctly… Hmm, we’ll have to recheck the Pottermore sorting hat.

you’re very welcome! look, if the Sorting Hat honored Harry’s request not to be in Slytherin, it should honor my wish to be in Ravenclaw. just sayin’ π¦

Yeah, I think it would. Plus, you feel like a Ravenclaw. Your posts, your writing style, it shows some characteristics that I usually tend to associate with Ravenclaw – you try your best and well, you seem to give it your all. I think it is that dedication that makes a Ravenclaw more than intelligence or anything else.

SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME. I am also come from a self-motivated past and am a chronic over-achiever. (I mean, who else dares themselves to post every day this year to see if it makes a difference to their blog engagement?) x

Great post! I know what you mean about being an overachiever β I always try and take on far too many books at once. I’m a ravenclaw, too! (I think… maybe slightly Slytherin as well)

I hate about talking about myself also. It always make me feel such a narsistic especially when people ask what I’m good at. Why do they always ask when looking for a job questions like why should we choose you. Like… maybe because I need money? π
I’m not HP fan. I mean I loved the movies as a kid but I never even finished the books but Pottermore lied for me too. It said I saw Slytherin but after reading about personalities about each house the only house that sounds even a little bit of me was Hufflepuf.
I love writing fanfiction but I have this habit of always leaving them unfinished stares at all her unfinished multi chapter fics

right??? you don’t even know that what I’m telling you is accurate, even if I think I’m being honest! and I do the same thing with all my multichap fics, oops π

Aww β€ Thank you for the tag Isabelle! I want to say I’m very studious and ambitious, but there have been moments during my study that I didn’t feel like that at all. I honestly suffered of Imposter Syndrome quite a lot and I’m pretty sure that held me back achievementwise, because if you’re never going to be good enough, why try anyway. At least, that’s what I used to think sometimes in graduate school, but here I am, graduated and all π now that I’m working I’m getting my ambition back again and it feels really good!

you’re very welcome, and that’s awesome to hear that you’ve overcome the imposter syndrome! we all have low periods, and it’s always so inspiring to hear from people who have gotten through theirs π

Congratulations on your award tag! I love these awards because it allows us to see the blogger away from their bookshelves and in their natural habitat. I wish I was more motivated, I seem to have days where I want to do all the things but others, I’m happy to sit there like a potato. Loved this tag and getting to learn more about you!

Aww, thank you, thank you. (And to WordPress for not pinging me – you’re rude and I don’t like you.) I hate talking about myself as well, so I just go with the basics, of “I’m currently a blah blah year student at blah blah university studying blah blah. I work at blah blah and outside of work and classes, I blog at my own blog and write articles for blah blah as an intern.” π€·ββοΈ
If you move to the Midwest you should come to Missouri because I’M HERE. It’s the only reason to come here if you don’t mind the lack of book tours plopping in here and the seasons not knowing what the seasons actually are. (RIGHT NOW IT’S LIKE 65 DEGREES. IT’S WINTER, NOT EARLY SUMMER.) π

if I ever actually go to the midwest despite all advice to the contrary, I’m pretty sure the only draw is the fact that you’re there! π I don’t really get to go to book tours anyway (even living on the East Coast with access to NYC and Philly π ) and I would take a lack of seasons … if it meant moderate weather. but no to huge snow pileups, thanks π

Thank you for tagging me ! oh lord.. I gotta think of what I could say from now ahaha I never know what to choose, then it comes to me like weeks afterward “ah, true.. there’s that. ahaha”
I’m not a fan of beaches either; the “toasting”, sand that just ends up EVERYWHERE, the too much people everywhere… errrrh. However i’d just wanna trade my months of canadian polar cold for a bearable “not hot, but im not freezing either” weather !
Yeeps.. im still quite hooked in the tumblr world aswell AHERM xD No matter how much shit goes on there, im too hooked on that now. My main in Kafeixo in case you’re interrested and still over there!
Heeeey im a capricorn too !! but INFP and I got hufflepuff (though I fitted Ravenclaw too, only a POINT less than Hufflepuffs)

“I was born and raised in Northern California. So I only say βCaliβ or βSan Franβ when Iβve been spending too much time around non-Californians ”
SCREAMING INTO THE ABYSS!
YES!
This is literally my biggest pet peeve in the entire world. No one but non-Californians refer to California as ‘Cali,’ unless you are Snoop Dogg. Before I moved to NorCal, I always just said SF but now it’s The City. California culture, man.

right??? every time I say Iβm from California, the response is βOh, Cali!β and I have to resist the urge to roll my eyes. NorCal, nearish SF, thank you. And yes, Iβve seen snow before. π

I feel this on so many levels. what a mood.
“So I only say βCaliβ or βSan Franβ when Iβve been spending too much time around non-Californians” —
My dad was raised in California and when he had us he made it his life’s mission for us to never refer to california as “Cali” his exact words were and I quote “I didn’t raise barbarians, throw a y’all in there if you must but for goodness sakes don’t ever refer to California as Cali” (you may include shudders where you see fit as his shoulders were basically twerking throughout this entire monologue). It’s a time ππππ
